Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or chicken breasts)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon chilli flakes (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley or spring onions, chopped, for garnish
Directions
- Season the chicken lightly with salt and black pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the chicken and cook for about 5–6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- Reduce the heat slightly. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring, until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce into the pan and stir well.
- Return the chicken to the pan. Simmer gently for 3–5 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chicken until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
- Garnish with chopped parsley or spring onions.
- Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
How to Serve
- Serve over steamed rice and spoon the honey garlic sauce over the top.
- Pair with mashed potatoes for a comforting dinner.
- Add steamed broccoli, green beans, or mixed vegetables for an easy side.
- Serve with a fresh green salad for a lighter meal.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions or fresh parsley just before serving.
