Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon water
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or spring onion (optional)
Directions
- Prepare the chicken. Pat the chicken dry and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Season lightly with salt and black pepper.
- Make the sauce. In a small bowl, mix the honey, soy sauce, water, and sesame oil, if using.
- Cook the chicken. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 6–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and cooked through.
- Add the garlic. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly so it does not burn.
- Add the sauce. Pour the honey-soy mixture into the pan and stir well to coat the chicken.
- Finish cooking. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the chicken.
- Serve. Sprinkle with chopped parsley or spring onion, if using, and serve warm.
Serving & Storage
Serve the honey garlic chicken warm with steamed rice, noodles, broccoli, mixed vegetables, or a simple green salad.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Allow the chicken to cool before refrigerating.
Reheating
Pan: Reheat the chicken in a pan over medium-low heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until hot throughout. Microwave: Place in a microwave-safe dish and heat in short intervals until hot, stirring between intervals.
Tip: Add a small splash of water if the honey garlic sauce becomes too thick while reheating.
